Hello Chathan, this is a little late (I've only just read the post), and while the following doesn't really answer your concerns, you might find it interesting. Venn, [in the paper: Venn, C. (2007). Cultural Theory, Biopolitics, and the Question of…

Hi Clare, thanks for your reply and link to the new quote. I've only "just" found this information given that I moved house/transferred office. I agree with your response; whenever I write myself into a corner (or onto a tightrope), I try to rememb…

Dear Clare and Robert, please do continue to add links to any new Foucault quotes. I have found the June quote to be of immediate use in my ongoing endeavour to use Foucault's ideas to 'rethink' the positionality of white teachers/missionaries (as w…

Hello Robert and Vicki, I would love to take part. I haven't read The History of Sexuality I, II 'or' III (and know I should), however, I just don't know that I'll be able to commit the time necessary to be an active contributor. Hmmm, I'll wait to…

Thanks David. I didn't actually know that the conference was taking place; I'll be there with the proverbial bells on. Sam ;)

Sam,

Thanks for the heads up! I'd love for you to forward on the article, it seems like it might be of use. My email is kurz DOT 32 AT buckeyemail DOT osu DOT edu. I know, that's way too long of an email address.

How far along are you in your doctoral work? And where is Flinders? I haven't made it down to Australia yet, but it's on my list of places to visit someday.

Thanks, josh

Thanks Sam. To answer your questions I was at Flinders from '91-94, dual major Politics and Asian Studies, Minor in Philosophy, Honours in Politics ('94). Then I went to ANU and lived in Canberra from '95-97, then to Boston from late '97 to mid '00, then in Adelaide working at Flinders from '01-04, did a Grad Dip in Education at Adelaide in '05, tutored in Education there in early '06, then was an ALT on the JET Program for one year ('06-07) in Toyama (Japan), then did relief teaching down south until this year when I started at UniSA. You might see me at Flinders now and then because I am doing a Grad Dip in Language Teaching (French) there part-time over the next three years. Adelaide being the small city it is I'm sure we've crossed paths many times!

Hi Sam, I'm at UniSA too (Magill) ... if you see me around say hello! I know one Whiteness theorist (Mike Hill) quite well, check out his After Whiteness and Whiteness: A Critical Reader (both from NYU Press) if you want an American angle on it. There is also an interview with him here.

Hi Sam, thanks for the nice comments! At the moment I am working on securing a book contract. It's looking promising so maybe if all goes to plan it could be late 2010. Your research sounds very interesting! would love to hear more about what you are researching.
Best wishes,
Richard

Hi Sam,

Thanks for the comment - I am glad you found my paper useful. I'm just glad someone has read it and understood it! Can I ask which one it was?

I'm eager to read some of your papers too when I get a chance.

Cheers,

Matt
